{ three on thursday } paper and thread

“The truth is that our finest moments are likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy or unfulfilled.

For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.”

rachel - Whew, deep. And just what i needed today. I left my ‘cush’ job last month for a new one which is demanding and uncomfortable… and is really testing my physical and emotional stamina. And yet I feel compelled to stay… and have never slept better at night. Through it all, I’ve found an inner strength I never knew I had, and each day I feel deeply satisfied knowing I endured.

Amy in Texas - Love the stitches on the middle piece.

{ wednesday workshop } butterfly garland

A simple and summery project today.  A paper garland made from some scraps of paper and a butterfly paper punch.

Here are the easy steps…

Punch as many shapes as you’d like for your garland (I used this punch).

Then cut around the silhouette pieces as shown…

Then stitch the pieces along the tops, leaving some space between each piece…

Stitch along until it’s the length you’d like.  Make sure you let it trail as you stitch so the garland won’t get tangled as you stitch…

Loop the ends and hang it up!  I tried mine in the kitchen window, then decided it was more fun hanging from a light fixture…

What to do with the actual butterfly shapes you punched?  Make another garland like this one…

“I only ask to be free.  The butterflies are free.”

Welcome to my new website!

Welcome to my new home on the web!

I’ve given much thought to what might be the best approach to my new site, both for you and for my own life and routine.  And something to help me be a little more faithful in keeping a schedule and sharing with you what’s going on in my world.  There will always be creative projects and ideas shared here, but I also receive a lot of feedback from you asking for more of what I’ve offered in the past beyond the art and craft…specifically words of inspiration and encouragement, and more glimpses into life here on our little hobby farm.

So, here’s the general plan.  Keeping in mind that I cannot post every day, I thought it might be helpful to you if I categorized topics so you can choose the categories that interest you.  Breaking those down by days of the week seemed to make the most sense…

Monday Moodboard:  Mondays will be the day where you can find one of the moodboards that I love to create, usually centered around a specific theme.  A visual inspiration.

Together on Tuesday:  On Tuesdays, you are invited to gather at my table, so to speak, and we will share some table talk.  Which means talk will center around anything at all–from my studio to my home and farm to the world…anything.

Wednesday Workshop:  On Wednesdays the focus will always be on something creative.  Whether it’s a stepped-out tutorial on an art project or photos of something I’m working on.

Three on Thursday:  Three photos with a common theme or material.  Mostly art & craft with a little home and farm now and then.

For You on Friday:  If I’m going to offer a free downloadable pattern, host a giveaway, or share a recipe…it will be on a Friday.  Something for you, from me.

Saturday Scrapbook:  A page layout for my scrapbooking friends…all of them from many years ago.

The Soul of Sunday:  Some words of faith to encourage, comfort and meditate upon

Let me know what you think.  Hope you visit again.

love,

Rebecca
